I have been looking for a bread bin for a while, most are only big enough to fit one loaf of bread, this bin is brilliant, as you can fit a loaf of bread and there is plenty of room for another loaf, or cobs and cakes, ideal for family's . Looks good very study, what more could you ask for.

This bread bin was on offer and my old one needed replacement. It was the closest in size to what I needed. It should never have even reached the store shelves, though - bad quality control by Dunelm. Getting it home, I find the door jams tightly in its frame because the wood has swollen or it has been inexpertly made: either way - if you manage to shut it with great effort, you need almost to rip it open; it's too tough for my wife to manage. I understand it was on offer because it is discontinued, so there are no replacements. I'm very disappointed.

On first sight this is a reasonably well made bread bin which we bought to replace an apparently identical one that has served us well for many years but now needs replacing. Unfortunately the new model has a thin veneered MDF base rather than the solid wood base of our old bin. This base is flimsy and to stiffen it a wooden strip has been added to the front edge. This results in a difficult to clean trap which makes it almost impossible to remove crumbs without emptying the bin and turning it upside down. I also suspect that the MDF base will not last long in a kitchen environment unless it is thoroughly dried after cleaning. What a pity to spoil a good design presumably to save a few pennies on the manufacturing cost.
