Quality not as good as previous model

On first sight this is a reasonably well made bread bin which we bought to replace an apparently identical one that has served us well for many years but now needs replacing. Unfortunately the new model has a thin veneered MDF base rather than the solid wood base of our old bin. This base is flimsy and to stiffen it a wooden strip has been added to the front edge. This results in a difficult to clean trap which makes it almost impossible to remove crumbs without emptying the bin and turning it upside down. I also suspect that the MDF base will not last long in a kitchen environment unless it is thoroughly dried after cleaning. What a pity to spoil a good design presumably to save a few pennies on the manufacturing cost.

The first bin we received was broken but the replacement arrived very quickly and is just what I wanted. I bought it for a gift for my brother so hope he's pleased with it. There are so many metal bins out there at the moment but he seems to prefer a wooden 1.

I love this bread bin. It's a superb size, fitting a 800g loaf of bread (length ways) and brioche rolls too. It is sturdy and matches my kitchen colour and design well. Love it :)

Process of ordering and store pick up simple
Fairly sturdy build so can store items on top of it
Will take a loaf as long as a bloomer, but if loaf is too high then it has to go in on its side
            No complaints!
