Recycling/WEEE Regulations

Untitled Document
Electrical Goods

From 1st July 2007, the UK’s Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations will allow members of the public to deposit old electrical and electronic items at recycling sites across the UK.

Dunelm has made significant financial investment to increase recycling rates of electrical goods in the UK. This investment has been put towards the development and upgrade of 'Designated Collection facilities' (DCFs) throughout the UK. From July 1st 2007 you will be able to take any old electrical item to recycling sites you have for recycling free of charge.

Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) is one of the fastest growing waste streams in the UK and putting EEE into the usual waste system can be detrimental to public health and the environment. Much of this waste can be recycled which prevents it going to landfill causing hazardous waste.

As a retailer that sells selected electrical items, Dunelm fully supports this regulation and encourages all customers to play a part in protecting our environment for future generations; therefore we are asking all customers to take any EEE waste to their local recycling site.

WEEE symbol From now on all new electrical products that can be recycled will carry this ‘crossed out wheelie bin' symbol to help you remember to recycle them.

Please contact your local Dunelm store for information on your nearest WEEE centre. Otherwise you may contact your local council, or visit www.recycle-more.co.uk and type your postcode into the recycling bank locator.
