Linda Lee, Store Manager Knowing how to delegate is vital

As a Store Manager, I don’t do typical days. In fact, there isn’t an aspect of running the store that I’m not involved in. It’s a real hands-on role which calls for skills in management, merchandising and everything in between.

Knowing how to delegate is vital. Good leadership is about letting people know what’s expected of them and how to do it. Get that right and the rest follows much easier.

Customers can make your day. They’re the most important part of what we do. If they leave your store happy, you feel happy that you’ve achieved something.

It’s the team I manage that makes this job worth doing. Like a family, everyone has their role to play. When the pressure’s on, everyone helps each other out and there is a real team spirit. Running one of the flagship stores is a real responsibility. We’re representing the company as a whole, and we work hard to make sure that we provide the best possible service. Anything less just wouldn’t be as satisfying to us and our customers.

I love being busy. But I know the value of relaxation too. It’s something you need to balance out with such a fantastic and busy role.
