Curtain Lining Specifications

The curtain lining that you choose very much depends on the qualities that you hope to gather from your new window dressings. If all you crave is a light curtain to stop any glare shining on your TV screen then maybe an unlined curtain would suffice. However, if you require your curtains for the master bedroom then you may need a form of blackout lining that will help to ensure that your sleep is undisturbed by unwanted sunrays.

Types of Curtain Lining

Unlined
Traditionally curtains always came in an unlined material form. This style of curtain is characterised by the thin layer of fabric that hangs at your window. The material can range from velvet to cotton and will look just as stylish as a lined curtain. The benefit of this style of unlined curtain is that it won’t cast your room into total darkness, you will be able to block out unwanted glare without feeling like its nighttime. Unlined curtains are also often used as decorative pieces over roller blinds to add a touch of style and soften the overall look at your windows.

Standard Curtain Lining
If you require a slightly thicker more durable curtain than the unlined version, then a basic curtain lining should do the trick. This style of curtain lining protects you from unwanted sun rays and provides a slightly increased level of protection from cold draughts. This is the ideal curtain option for the master bedroom. The lining, whilst protecting from excessive sunrays and draughts does not descend your bedroom into total darkness making it easier for you to wake up naturally for those early morning starts.

Blackout Lining
Blackout lining offers you the highest level of protection against sunlight and cold draughts. This style of curtan lining is ideal for babies and children’s rooms. The blackout lining ensures that any unwanted sunlight is totally blocked from entering their bedrooms, ensuring that they sleep right through to morning. The added thickness to a blackout curtain will also help to ensure that any cold draughts are kept at bay, helping to keep your child’s bedroom nice and warm.
