- Blackout Curtains Buying Guide
Blackout Curtains from Dunelm Mill
View our blackout curtains range
Blackout curtains are the perfect choice for bedrooms. They block out any excess light that might normally filter through your curtains, meaning you can get the perfect night’s sleep. They are also an ideal option for a child’s bedroom as they allow you to create a dark and calming room at any time of day.
Benefits of Blackout Curtains
Blackout lining is one of our top selling curtain products due to its unique qualities. However, the flexibility of the product is also very appealing as we offer blackout curtain lining with all of our fabrics. This means that you can have the opportunity to pick a curtain style and design to suit your home with the freedom of choosing your preferred type of curtain lining.
Types of Lining
The curtain lining that you choose can make all the difference to the look and feel of your room. Blackout curtains are not the only option to consider when looking at curtain linings. At Dunelm Mill we have five different curtain lining options to choose from.
Lined Curtains
A lined curtain has many benefits, the main one being that they can help to keep cold draughts out whilst simultaneously blocking unwanted sun rays. The lining will also provide an extra layer to your fabric which will help to protect the colour and pattern of your curtains from the sun. An added benefit to choosing lined curtains is that the lining will add extra weight to your curtains thereby making them hang better.
Unlined Curtains
Unlined curtains are the perfect choice for the summer period. They provide protection from the sun whilst maintaining a light and airy feel to your room. An additional benefit to these curtains is that they allow air to pass through easily, helping to lower your room temperature. Unlined curtains are also a very practical option due to the low maintenance nature of the product; our unlined curtains can be washed and dried in the home.
Polycotton Curtain Lining
The polycotton curtain lining is made up of a combination of polyester and cotton materials. They are a very economical curtain lining option and are ideal for any room. They are very effective at regulating temperatures in the home, keeping rooms warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
Thermal Curtain Lining
Thermal curtain linings are our thickest lining option. They provide maximum heat insulation for your home, keeping cold draughts out in the winter and helping to maintain a cooler temperature in the summer. The heat regulatory properties of thermal lining make these curtains a great cost-effective option for your home, helping to keep energy bills down. The thickness of the thermal lining also adds extra weight to the curtains making them hang better.
